Most likely a visit to New England for the fall colors pops up on a number of folks “bucket list”. And, rightfully so. The hype is well documented with scores of glorious pictures of the lovely hardwood trees showing their finery as they begin the slow exit to winter. It has been a long difficult and somewhat brutal summer all across the country so one begins to wonder how this will affect the leaf-peeping season. Mother nature is known to be a bit fickle and for no apparent reason can beat a hasty retreat into winter while other times she dawdles and reluctantly sheds the last glorious strains of autumn. Let’s hope that she can linger lovingly while our parched and withered souls attempt a bit of salvation amid the cooling greens, trembling crimsons and shimmering golds of autumn’s gentle slide into winter.
